libby is 15

Libby turned 15 in July. She and our friend share a birthday. I think she had a good day. She spent the week before at the beach with a good friend from middle school. We love you Libby!!

quick beach trip

lorax

This years theme for camp is a dr. suess one.  Our ward chose the Lorax.  Here is the flag that I made for our girls...

40!

Clyde turned 40 this year! We weren't able to see him on his day, due to a baseball tournament, but we saw him a few days later. Happy birthday sweetheart!!

scout camp

Apparently the slush puppies, were what made Clyde's stay bearable at camp this year.
It is hard to believe that Josh is old enough to go to overnight, week long scouts.  He earned 5 merit badges that week. It was wet and humid, but he still had fun. Clyde stayed for the first few days, and then other dads came.  On Thursday night, camp has a family night. I went with the younger 2 wardlings. When Josh saw us, he didn't allow me to come to a complete stop in the van, before he had reached in the car window to hug me.  He said, "When I get home, the first thing I am going to do is shower!" To be honest, I was a bit grossed out that he hadn't really showered for the past 4 days.  However, I was really grossed out when he told me he wore the same socks all week long. I packed him 6 pairs and when I did his laundry, they were still cleanly, wrapped up together. His clothes were dirtier than our 3 complete trek outfits for the 4 of us who went on trek.  Amazing! He didn't just come home with dirty clothes, but athlete's foot as well...gross!

I have learned the differences between girls camp and scout camp. While there are girls who do not shower, boys are indeed stinkier. The scout camp is more relaxed on the boys getting to places with the expectation that they get to class.  The girls have to be led and pampered. Our girls camp, is nice, but it is more of a princess camp. The women of the wards and stake work hard to make sure that everyone is as comfortable as possible. Boys...you are on your own!

kings dominion

Baseball tournaments are in full swing this summer. One of the trips Clyde took, he was able to take Josh along. My brother G and my fellas went to kings dominion after one of their tournaments in VA. Josh was brave getting on a few of the scarier rides. He didn't get on a few that Clyde and G rode. I am glad that they had fun! I am not a roller coaster gal, so anytime they can go without me, I am thrilled!

appalachian hike

Usually at camp, the older girls (4th years) go on a big hike on the Appalachian trail.  Our ward decided that they wanted to take all the yw, who wanted to go, on the hike before camp. Our girls had a blast. I swiped a few pictures from fb, with our girls in them. They saw wild horses, had horrible rain, it was cold, and they had to pee outside. I was a bit nervous with them needing to carry everything on them, but they did great and are anxiously awaiting next year's hike.

dress like me

Dress like me get free chicken!
I only had the younger two wardlings with me that night. The girls were hiking and Josh was at camp. I had to talk the Jacob into dressing up, but once we had visited one restaurant, he said..."I want seconds!" So, we visited one more. thanks chic-fil-a!

mary poppins

A good friend of ours turned 30, on Libby's birthday. Her husband threw her a Mary Poppins themed party. This was our gift t her.

fairy 2

We finished up another fairy. I am bad with Tinkerbelle's friends' names.  I think this one controls water. This one was fun to make. I am glad she turned out so well.

fairy 1

Another Tinkerbelle fairy was made. This skirt, which you can't see from the photo, has about 7 petals for her skirt. This one turned out nicely and was simple to make. Thank goodness!!

from our garden

I did plant a garden this year. I have gotten squash and a few zucchini. I worked so much this summer, that I didn't even tie my tomatoes up. I watched a squirrel pluck my perfect tomato of the vine and flip me off as he ran away with it in his mouth. dang squirrels!
