Christmas post

This year was off a bit. I was busily working at the shop until about a week and a half before Christmas. Once I was let go, I had a very strict sewing regimen that I had to stick too. I had previously made gifts for others on purpose, so I could work on my children's gifts during that time. I went back into the shop to use the fancy equipment and knocked out 3 pairs of pj's one day and overlocked the pieces to 2 dresses. I still had buttonholes to make, buttons to sew on and elastic to insert, but the pj's were sewn. I made Libby's dress one day and Erin's the next. I had already figured out a "Finn hat" pattern at the shop one day, with Sis. D's help and knocked out 2 of those for the boys. I painted ornaments, knitted and crocheted scarfs. I even had a few minutes to semi finish matching pj's for Penny's Bitty baby when everything came crashing down. Me. I was hit hard by some type of flu. I was achy, feverish, freezing and hot all at the same time. I had no energy at all. I had no voice at all. I could barely breathe and the cough was nasty. The only thing I could taste was the gunk in my head. Nasty gross for sure. Then the strept surfaced. I even had the scarlet fever rash on my chest. My ears hurt, my throat hurt, and I couldn't move further than going from the couch to my bed, to the bathroom. That was it. I hadn't gotten anything wrapped, nothing was baked, no Christmas cards were sent. Clyde was amazing. He spent hours cooking and cleaning. He wrapped presents. He took care of sick kids and a sick me. He filled prescriptions, gave us our dosages at the right times and heard alot of grumblings. He was and is amazing. I haven't been this sick in years. Absolutely miserable was I.
He even organized and shopped for the stuff for the New Years Eve dance. I am truly thankful for my love. He totally made this Christmas spectacular. I am still not 100%. Hopefully this week will get me back to 100%. Thanks Clyde for everything!! xoxo

another broken bone

This time it was Penny. Clyde and I are on the Stake youth committee, where really all we do is set up for dances and help with a few activities. Our big New Years Eve dance with 4 stakes is tonight. Yesterday we went to the stake center to start decorating. Clyde left me and the girls there, while he took the boys into the doctor. (They are having a few of my sick symptoms.) We had decorated one of the behind- the- basketball-goal pads and opening packages to start the next one, when I saw Penny fall off the stage. She landed on her arm/ elbow. I scooped her up and my first thought was that she had dislocated her shoulder. Once she stopped crying, I could get an answer out of her that her arm hurt. She pointed at everything from her wrist to her elbow. After about 45 minutes, she was up and running around, playing with cousins, so I didn't insist on taking her into the doctor. However, this morning, she was still complaining of her arm hurting and the pain was more towards her elbow. Got her an appointment this afternoon and lo and behold it was as the Dr. put it, crushed. nice. She was air casted and then sent over to have a CT scan. She has to wear the air cast for a week, then more xrays, and then a more permanent cast.
That, for those counting, is 3 broken wardling bones in the last 3 months.

phone photos

I recently downloaded all the pictures from my phone. Not all of them are great quality, but there is a story behind them. This year the Wardlings raked the front and back yard and played in those leaves for weeks. It was fun to rake, jump, and play. I was just happy that they had fun doing 'work.'
Not the best quality photo, but this was my favorite munchkin costume that I have made to date. It turned out so well. The hat was my absolute favorite piece of the costume.
Josh had a scout thing at the Colfax ward building and so we took the opportunity to go to the farmers market. I wish the market wasn't so far away, we'd go there more often.
Penny made the A/B Honor Roll at school. I don't like that the school gives number grades in first grade, but she is doing well, so I can't complain too terribly.
Jacob won an award for generosity this month. He is such a sweet kid!

He also had the coolest costume for Roman Day at school. It worked out perfectly that I work for a costume shop. I was planning on making him a costume and when Sis. D saw the fabric I was planning to use, she jumped up and grabbed this costume and altered it herself. We gave her the fabric that she loved so much and she made herself a skirt out of it. It was a win win for both parties.

I quickly threw together this toga for a friend from church, who participated in the same Roman day celebration.

With Christmas upon us, I have been known to search the toy aisles. I saw this one day and was disturbed. Does Barbie look like a cougar to anyone else but me? She has the 80's Dynasty hair and Ken looks like he just shaved for the first time.
Jacob has been a bit sick this school year. He has already had Croup and Pneumonia. Sis. D is awesome and has allowed me to bring in the wardlings who are sick, so that I can still work. I think that Jacob had a good day off from school.
Here my boys are pleased with their piles of leaves.
I caught Penny being a great mother to her Bitty Baby, Lucy (or Lizzie) it changes from play time to play time.

Josh went on a hike with the 11 year old scouts this summer. I didn't take this photo but I was grateful to receive it. Josh loves scouts!
Josh did indeed need to wear a second cast. This was the day that it came off.
Libby has a good friend, named Erin. Erin and Erin were showing off their walking in heels skills. It was funny. I should've video'd their walk. This was also the day of the Emerald City's parade and the day that the battery died in the Beetle and Clyde had to rescue us.
We watched my nephew one night so that my sister and her hubby could have a night away. He was such a good sport! My favorite part of watching babies is seeing them go home. I love babies and loving on them, but I think that I am too old to have them again. I am spoiled now that my babies can do things for themselves and communicate without screaming all day long. I like that!

12-12-12

Happy 12-12-12 day.  A lady came into the shop a few weeks ago and said that 12-12-12 was her birthday. They were having a costume party in her honor. Happy birthday shop customer!!

PE mishap

Clyde texts me last Thursday afternoon telling me, that Libby had emailed him to say that she may have broken a finger in PE. I call our pediatrician, not even knowing which finger it was on which hand, to get an appointment for an orthopedist. Her finger was nicely bruised and pretty sore. To be honest, I thought it was jammed. The news that it was broken was a surprise to us. We knew it was a possibility, but we had out doubts. Not only is it broken, but she chipped a piece bone off of her finger.

After xrays and meeting the new doctor, we were sent over to the hand specialists who handle making casts/ splints and therapy. The lady who made her splint was so incredibly detailed in her schpiel, that she asked if I wanted to take notes.  Notes...on a finger splint?! Then she went on to explain how velcro worked. I didn't feel the need to tell her that I see velcro constantly in my line of work and that I knew all about velcro. I just let her talk. I think it may have made her feel better that day.

Libby and I just laughed that she broke a finger in PE. She spent the rest of the day watching me sew at the shop. She is quick to use the excuse of having a broken finger to get out of her chores. Kids these days...

Cecil/ Ward/Luntz

A few weeks ago, my friend Ashley, was able to successfully capture a family picture with all the Cecil's in it. We grabbed my Grandma to join us in the picture fun too. I think the pictures turned out nicely. The last ones we took, we were missing one of my brother's family. The photo just wasn't complete without them in it.

pumpkin patch field trip

a little crochet

My Sister, R,  asked if I would make a hat and beard for her little guy, for Halloween. This was a fun project!! I made one for M's little guy too...no such luck in the photo department with E though.
